First-Look Trailer Releases for ‘The Rhythm Section’
20 Sep 2019 : News Desk
Jude Law and Blake Lively in The Rhythm Section
Eon Productions’ ‘The Rhythm Section’, starring Blake Lively (‘The Town’), Jude Law (‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’) Max Casella (‘Jackie’) and Sterling K. Brown (‘Black Panther’), was filmed in Dublin in 2018.

‘The Rhythm Section’ is an adaptation of Mark Burnell’s spy thriller, which follows protagonist Stephanie Patrick (Lively) seeking to uncover the truth behind a plane crash that killed her family, and that she herself was meant to be on. The Eon production (‘James Bond’ Franchise) is set to had a budget of $50 million, and is being produced by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, with funding coming from Global Road.

Produced by the ‘James Bond’ franchise duo Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the feature was helmed by ‘The Handmaiden’s Tale’ director Reed Morano. The feature also has a strong Irish contingent behind the camera, including production designer Tom Conroy (‘Legend’), co-producer Redmond Morris (‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley’) and costume designer Eimer Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh (‘Love & Friendship’).

Production was temporarily halted back in December after Lively sustained an injury to her hand while performing a stunt in Dublin, resuming elsewhere in June however as other production locations that included Spain and New York had been arranged to take place after the successful completion of filming in Ireland.

Eon Productions’ Barbara Broccoli has been quite enthusiastic about her first experience making a film in Ireland, saying:

"Ireland plays many different things in this movie. It shows you how versatile it is, that it can be many different places. We love being here; we love the Irish crew… It's just the people; it's the welcoming spirit of the people that's just so lovely."

Speculation about Ireland serving as a potential film location for an upcoming James Bond film has also been stoked by Broccoli’s comments, who told RTÉ Entertainment that:

"It's a great place to make movies. You've got great craftsmen and crews and a wonderful spirit here and beautiful locations and facilities. I guess we've been so busy travelling around the world [that] often you don't really notice what's on your own doorstep. Let's see, maybe we'll try and get Bond here at some point. I must say, having experienced it, I would love to come back."

An initial release date was planned early in 2019 by Paramount Pictures, who are handling worldwide distribution on the film, however the film will now release on February 21st, 2020, following the production delay.
