As reported on IFTN earlier this week, the BBC is set to commence shooting on the comic’s biopic in Northern Ireland this month.
‘Dave Allen At Peace’ already has a host of well known names alongside Aidan Gillen, with Game of Thrones co-star Conleth Hill, who will play the comedian’s brother, John. Joanne Crawford will play his mother while Tommy Tiernan is set to play his father.
RTÉ Head of Comedy Eddie Doyle said: ‘Dave Allen was one of the greatest comedians Ireland ever produced. It is fitting that Tommy Tiernan also features in this show because Dave’s style, which was ahead of its time, informed the next generation of comedians. Those of us who grew up watching him on the telly are looking forward to seeing Aiden bring Dave's story to the screen. We’re very excited to be working with the BBC on this project.’
Dermot Horan, RTÉ Director of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, said: 'When we heard the BBC were planning to make a biopic about Dave Allen we jumped at the opportunity to get involved. We believe it will be a film which will appeal hugely to both Irish and British audiences alike.’
