The Ripple World Pictures co-production ‘Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails’ has landed a number of distribution deals at Cannes.
Based on the bestselling novel ‘Ghosthunters and the Incredibly Revolting Ghost’ by Cornelia Funke, ‘Ghosthunters: On Icy Trails’ tells the story of a fearful 11-year-old boy who discovers a green ghost in his cellar. The film is directed by Tobi Baumann.
According to Variety, EOne has taken North American rights to the film while other buyers include Altitude Distribution (U.K.), Transmission (Australia/New Zealand), Notorious (Italy), Gulf Film (Middle East), New Guys (Israel), Medyavizyon (Turkey), Pratama Films (Malaysia/Indonesia/Singapore) and Blitz (former Yugoslavia).
The film is a mix of live-action and animation with the VFX work completed by EGG Post Production in Dublin with Irish production company Ripple World Pictures co-producing. EGG’s Colm Mullally was also an ADR Mixer on the film. Irish actress Amy Huberman has a part in the film, playing Emily, a receptionist at the Central Ghosthunting Institute.
‘Ghosthunters’ was partly funded by the Irish Film Board and availed of Section 481 tax incentives.
