Conleth Hill and Clinton Liberty in Holding.
Following its debut on ITV in the UK, the much anticipated television adaptation of Graham Norton’s dark comedy drama will debut to Irish audiences tomorrow night.

Set and filmed in Cork, this four-part drama series features a host of Irish actors – with Olivier Award-winning actor Conleth Hill as the lead role of Sargent PJ Collins, Derry Girls’ Siobhan McSweeney, Peaky Blinders’ Charlene McKenna, Normal People’s Clinton Liberty, and My Left Foot Oscar-winner Brenda Fricker.

Holding airs on Virgin Media More tomorrow night at 9pm exclusively to Virgin TV subscribers. Virgin Media More is VMTV’s new platform exclusive channel, which will be available to all Virgin TV customers from tomorrow onwards on channel 100.

Episode one introduces us to Sargent PJ Collins – a gentle man who hides from people and fills his days with comfort food and half-hearted police work. He is one of life’s outsiders, lovable, but lonely and a bit rubbish at his job. When human remains are found in a sleepy Irish village, Sergeant PJ Collins finally has a genuine crime to solve. As the gruesome discovery ripples through the community, it threatens to expose a lifetime of secrets.

Set in the insular fictional village of Duneen, West Cork, on the edge of Ireland, a place with its own climate and rhythms, Holding is directed by award-winning actor, director and producer Kathy Burke.

Darkly funny and inherently Irish, the four-part adaptation is written by Dominic TreadwellCollins and Karen Cogan and produced by Happy Prince and Port Pictures in association with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and co-produced by Virgin Media Television.

ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill commissioned the series for the channel. Holding is written by Dominic Treadwell-Collins and Karen Cogan for Dominic’s ITV Studios label, Happy Prince, and adapted from Graham Norton’s debut novel of the same title.

The drama is produced by Martina Niland (Once, Sing Street) for Port Pictures, in association with Screen Ireland, with co-production partners Virgin Media Television. Holding is in association with, and distributed internationally by, ITV Studios.

Holding airs on Virgin Media More tomorrow night at 9pm.
