Northern Ireland actor James Nesbitt (Jekyll, Murphy's Law) and Maxine Peake (Shameless, Messiah) are confirmed to star in ‘Cinderella’, the second of four comedy dramas to be made by Hat Trick Productions in Northern Ireland as part of the modern anthology of Fairy Tales for BBC One. more

BCI Announces Media Research Funding Scheme
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has announced details of a new media research funding scheme, offering three individual project grants in the amount of €16,000 per grant per annum in the area of media and broadcasting research. more
Prison Inmates Tread The Boards In ‘Sons of Ulster’
In June 2006 the prisoners of Hydebank Wood Young Offenders Centre performed Frank McGuinness’ ‘Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme’ to a packed audience in a professionally erected theatre at the prison. ‘Sons of Ulster’ is a four-part series following this journey, to be broadcast on BBC One NI from 25th June-28th June. more

Television broadcasters TV3 have announced three new appointments at the station. Joe Walsh takes over the position of Senior News Editor, Kieran Holden is now TV3 Sports Editor, while Audrey McGrath replaces Karen Koster as Reporter on ‘Ireland am’, TV3’s breakfast show. more
Northwest Film Archive launches in Derry
Friday 22nd June sees the launch of the North West Film Archive at the Nerve Centre, Co. Derry. The archive, which features a range of film and video content from Derry and Donegal, will officially be launched by international TV director Enda McCallion. more
