BCI's 'Sound & Vision' Funds 31 TV Projects
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BCI) has today, October 20th, announced funding for 31 television projects through Sound & Vision, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme. Significant grant support has been provided in this round for adult literacy, animation, drama and children's programming. more
Shooting Starts on 'Cup Cake'
Filming of a new feature film 'Cup Cake' (previously called Wee Buns) has begun in Ballymoney, County Antrim. 'Cup Cake' is written by Christine Murphy (Doctors), produced by Katy Jackson (Charlotte's Red) and directed by Colin McIvor (Driven). more
'Kells' & 'Niko' Vie For European Animation Award
Two Irish feature length animations, Tomm Moore's 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Niko & the Way to the Stars' from directors Kari Juusonen and Michael Hegner, have both received nominations from The European Film Academy in their Animated Feature Film 2009 category. more

RTÉ Challenges TV3's Audience Share Findings
The battle to secure the sought-after young adult TV audience was highlighted yesterday when a release from TV3 announcing their status of 'most watched channel in Ireland by adults aged 15-24' prompted a response from RTÉ which claimed that TV3 had focussed on a selective audience, which RTÉ described as "a narrow sub-demographic of young viewers in this country." more

Venom Embark on 'Rosslare to Roscoff'
Shooting is underway on Venom's new short film 'Rosslare to Roscoff' directed by Ken Wardrop (The Herd) which is expected to be released early next year. The crew are currently shooting on location in France. more
Irish Victory at Sydney 48 Hour Film Project
Aidan Corrigan, a 24 year old filmmaker from Dublin, has won the Best Film Award in the Sydney 48 Hour Film Project. The worldwide competition, which spans over 20 countries, requires filmmakers to write, shoot and edit a short film in 48 hours. more

RTÉ's new entertainment series 'The Republic of Telly' starts on Monday, October 26th and features Irish comedian Neil Delamere (The Panel) as presenter. more
Wardrop's 'His & Hers' Runs for LFF Grierson Gong
Venom Film's Ken Wardrop has been shortlisted for the Grierson Award at the inaugural The Times BFI London Film Festival for his feature-length creative documentary 'His & Hers'. The event will be taking place at the Inner Temple in central London on the night of Wednesday, October 28th. more
