BCI Awards €4.4Million to TV Projects in Sound & Vision
The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has announced funding of just over €4.4million for television programming in the most recent funding round of Sound & Vision, the Broadcasting Funding Scheme. Titles from Abú Media, Fastnet Films, Loosehorse, Tile Films and Telegeal are just some of the recipients of the fund. more
Irish Update at Cannes Film Fest
There were capacity attendances last Saturday at the Northern Ireland Screen lunch hosted by their Chairman Rick Hill and, later that evening, the Irish Film Board/Culture Ireland's beach party. Delegates in Cannes know of Ireland's reputation for hospitality and this year was no exception on the Croisette. more
O'Sullivan & Sheen Approach 'Stella Days'
Thaddeus O'Sullivan (Ordinary Decent Criminal, December Bride) is being lined up to direct a new Irish feature 'Stella Days', a drama based on the events surrounding the establishment of a cinema in a small Irish town. US Actor Martin Sheen (The West Wing) is attached to star. more
'Bono's Doppelganger' To Shoot in August
A new film 'I Was Bono's Doppelganger' based on music journalist Neil McCormick's autobiography is mooted to shoot in Dublin, Belfast and London this August. Irish actor Robert Sheehan (Cherrybomb) and Brit actor Charlie Cox (Stardust) are set to feature with Belfast director Nick Hamm (The Hole) directing. more
Abú Follows Irish Road to 'Whitehouse'
Abú Media's new six part historical documentary series for TG4 - 'Bóthar go dtí an Whitehouse' is currently filming in Galway, Cork and Dublin with transmission due on TG4 in October 2009. more

Search Begins for 'Xpose' Presenter
A nationwide search for the TV3's new Xpose presenter kicks off today (Friday, 15th May) for those wanting to become the newest member of the team and join presenters Karen Koster, Glenda Gilson, Lisa Cannon and Aisling O'Loughlin on the daily TV3 entertainment show. The search will be documented over a series of 8x1 hour shows that will air over the summer on TV3. more
Ray Stevenson to Play 'The Irishman'
Northern Ireland born actor Ray Stevenson (King Arthur, Rome) is to star in a new film 'The Irishman', based on the Irish American gangster Danny Greene. The film will be directed by Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher) with Irish acrtress Fionnula Flanagan (The Others), Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter) and Val Kilmer (Heat) also set to star. more

Thaddeus O'Sullivan's television drama 'Into the Storm' based on Winston Churchill's final days in office and starring Brendan Gleeson will premiere Stateside on HBO on Sunday May 31st. more
New Bursary Award for Wicklow Young Filmmakers
Wicklow County Council have announced their 2009 Bursary Awards for Young Wicklow Filmmakers. The awards for film makers, aged between 18 and 25 years, will be presented to the applicants who are deemed 'Best Short Filmmaker' across two age categories. more
