Sinéad O'Shea's documentary Blue Road - The Edna O'Brien Story has been selected to make its World Premiere at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival.
Blue Road will premiere in the festival's TIFF Docs 2024 programme. O'Shea's film is a portrait of Irish author Edna O’Brien who died last month aged 93.
Her personal journals, as shared with writer and director Sinéad O'Shea, are read aloud in the film by Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley.
Written and directed by Sinéad O'Shea, Blue Road is a Sky Original, proudly supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland. It is an SOS Production in co-production with Tara Films, produced by Claire McCabe, Sinéad O'Shea and Eleanor Emptage. Executive producers are Barbara Broccoli and Katie Holly, Niamh Fagan for Screen Ireland, Jack Oliver for Sky Arts and Kathryn Ferguson for Tara Films.
