Liam O’Mochain's 'Lost & Found' Selected for 25th Austin Film Festival

Irish Writer/Director Liam O Mochain’s 3rd feature film ‘Lost & Found’, which was recently picked up by FILM 4 for the UK, is the only Irish film selected to screen in competition at the upcoming 2019 Austin Film Festival (October 25th – November 1st).

Following its successful Irish cinema release back in July, ‘Lost & Found’ will be released in UK cinemas from October 19th. The film won best foreign film at the 2018 Arizona Int. film festival following its successful screenings at Dingle Int. film festival, IndieCork and it’s sold out world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh.

Speaking about the Austin selection, Writer/Director Liam O Mochain told IFTN:

“We are delighted to be screening in such a great festival as the Austin film Festival particularly as they have a strong emphasis on writers.  They have supported and celebrated many great films and filmmakers over the 25 years since the festival started from local talents like Robert Rodriquez, Rickard Linklater to Buck Henry, the Coen Brothers and Wes Anderson.  Producer Bernie Grummell adds ‘We are pleased for everyone involved in the film and looking to forward to a Texas audience getting an opportunity to see the film”.

'Lost & Found’ is a feature film with 7 interconnecting stories set in and around a lost & found office of an Irish train station.  All segments are inspired by true stories, share a theme of something lost or found, and characters that come in and out of each other’s lives. O Mochain says the reaction the film has got from both audiences and press in its’ Irish cinema release was great.  Dublin Inquirer said “Lost & Found is consistently funny.★★★★Newstalk said "Go see it…It will leave you with a smile on your face.“  Sunday Independent “lovely observations and a really great cast” The Irish Times “O Mochain’s third feature is his most appealing work to date”, The Sunday World said the film was “Charming” The Sunday Times “Humorous” and Sunday Business Post said the film was “a gentle contemporary comedy”

The ensemble cast includes Norma Sheahan (‘Moone Boy’), Liam Carney (‘Red Rock’), Aoibhin Garrihy (‘The Fall’), Anthony Morris (‘Games of Thrones’), Seamus Hughes (‘Jimmy’s Hall’), Liam O Mochain (‘WC’), Brendan Conroy (‘Vikings’), Barbara Adair (‘Grabbers’), Sean Flanagan (‘Foil Arms & Hog’), Mary McEvoy (‘Glenroe’), Diarmuid Noyes (‘Borgia’), Lynette Callaghan (‘Cold Feet’), Olga Wehrly (‘The Clinic’), Daniel Costelloe (‘Albert Nobbs’) and Donncha Crowley (‘Fr. Ted’).

The creative team behind ‘Lost & Found’ are writer/director Liam O Mochain, producer Bernie Grummell (‘WC’,‘The Book That Wrote Itself’), DoP Fionn Comerford (‘Vikings’, ‘Roy’,), production designer David Wilson (‘Omagh’,‘Some Mother’s Son’), sound Niall O'Sullivan (‘Frank’) & Philippe Faujas (‘Pure Mule’), make up & hair Caoimhe Arrigan (‘Death of a President’), editor Ciara Brophy (Oscar nominated ‘The Crush’, ‘Savage Eye’) and composer Richie Buckley (‘WC’, ‘The General’).

‘Lost & Found’ is O Mochain’s third feature film.  He has made numerous short films, documentaries and tv shows. His 2007 feature film WC won Best Foreign Film at Las Vegas Int. Film Festival and Best Film at the Waterford Film Festival.  ‘WC’ also screened at Montreal, Galway, Dublin and the Cairo Int. Film Festival.  Liam’s debut feature ‘The Book That Wrote Itself’ had its world premiere at the 1999 Galway Film Fleadh, Int. premiere at 1999 Vancouver Int. Film Festival and went on to screen at many film festivals worldwide. ‘Fortune’, his first short, won best short film at the1998 Worldfest Houston Int. Film Festival. His short film ‘Covet’ was longlisted for an academy award in 2013.
