Hamnet, directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao and starring Oscar nominees Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, has started production in Wales.
The film is an adaptation of the award-winning novel by Maggie O'Farrell, a fictionalised account of William Shakespeare's life and the death of his son Hamnet.
Mescal plays Shakespeare and Buckley plays his wife, who raises the family in his absence.
The project is filming on location, directed and co-written (with O'Farrell) by Chloé Zhao, who won multiple Oscars in 2021 for Nomadland and also directed Eternals.
Lisa Harris is producing Hamnet for Hera Pictures with Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris at Neal Street Productions and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment.
