Trailer & Artwork Unveiled for 'An Engineer Imagines' Ahead of its Irish Cinema Release March 1st
06 Feb 2019 : Nathan Griffin
New artwork for 'An Engineer Imagines'.
The film celebrates the underappreciated legacy in engineering and architecture left by Irish architect Peter Rice.

Fittingly for a film that celebrates Rice’s spectacular legacy, the just-released trailer and poster for the Irish cinema release capture the film’s stunning visual aesthetic.

Underappreciated at home in Ireland until now, Peter Rice has a global reputation as one of the most important engineers of the 20th Century making ground-breaking contributions to many of the most celebrated buildings in world architecture such as the Sydney Opera House, the Lloyd’s Building in London, the Inverted Pyramid at the Louvre and the Pompidou Centre in Paris.

The new trailer gives a preview of BAFTA-Award winning director and cinematographer Marcus Robinson’s stunning 35mm time-lapse photography that sensationally showcase Rice’s extraordinary buildings. The trailer was edited by a rising star of Irish film editing, Colin Campbell. Using Rice’s own words, the trailer gives tantalising sense of why his is still considered to be such an exciting legacy:

Gradually people come to you to buy surprise…and the thing that’s nicest about it is that when people come to buy surprise I have no idea what I’m going to give them either.”

A tribute to Peter Rice’s playful imagination and working process, the captivating poster design is by Belfast- based AOI-award winning illustrator Peter Strain.

‘An Engineer Imagines’ is a Fine Point Films and Igloo Films co-production film, funded by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, RTÉ, Northern Ireland Screen, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and the BBC.

‘An Engineer Imagines’ will be on limited release in Irish cinemas March 1st.
