Irish Production Highlights on TV3 This Christmas

IFTN have picked out some of the top Irish produced television and film set to air on TV3 over the Christmas period. The festive period will see TV3 give ‘Cardboard Gangsters’ its world TV premiere, debut a host of new Christmas specials and includes a number of family movie favourites.

Paul O'Grady returns to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in an one-hour special of 'For The Love of Dogs at Christmas'.  Determined to bring some much-needed festive cheer to the canine residents, Paul will again bring his unique blend of heartfelt warmth and humour to the waifs and strays of Battersea as he tries to give the dogs the best Christmas present possible - a new home. Top of Paul’s Christmas list to help is Bauble, a heavily pregnant stray found wet and bedraggled on Hampstead Heath.  This mysterious tiny terrier arrived at Battersea scared and confused, and in desperate need of some love and attention, which Paul is only to happy to offer!  But with the vets having no idea what breed of dog the father is, Bauble’s labour could be anything but straightforward...Another lost soul Paul meets is Wilma, who was found abandoned in a park and desperate for company.  Paul is determined to cheer up lonely Wilma and so hatches a plan to take her out for an extra special adventure…! INTO THE WEST

The Irish 'Into the West' is a film about two young boys, Tito and Ossie, whose father "Papa" Reillywas "King of the Travellers" until his wife, Mary, died during the birth of their second son, Ossie. The boys grandfather (David Kelly) is an old story-telling Traveller, who regales the children with Irish folk-tales and legends. When he is followed by a beautiful white horse called Tir na nOg (meaning "Land of Eternal Youth" in Irish), from the sea to Dublin, where the boys and their father have now settled down in a grim tower block in Ballymun, the boys are overwhelmed with joy and dreams of becoming cowboys. The horse is stolen from them and they begin their adventure to get their mystical horse back. They escape the poverty of a north Dublin council estate, and ride "Into the West" where they find that Tir na nOg is not just a horse. Starring: Gabriel Byrne, Ellen Barkin, Ciaran Fitzgerald.

 

XPOSÉ: THE BIGGEST CELEB INTERVIEWS 2017

TV3 are also set to debut British specials such as ‘The Royal Variety Performance’, ‘The Real Celebrity Full Monty’, and The Nation’s Favourite Elton John Song’. On December 23rd they will be covering the racing from Ascot for this year’s ‘Long Walk Hurdle’, and will be showing ‘Birds of a Feather Christmas Special’ to name but a few.
