IFTA winning 'Bridget & Eamon' returns to Irish screens this week for it's third season.
IFTN caught up with co-writer, director and producer, Jason Butler about the show.
"We really believe this is the best series yet! We put out two series and a Christmas special last year and, while we were still under pressure this year, there was a little bit more time to work on the scripts etc which helped. And I suppose by the third series we should have the hang of making the show by now!
"Once again we're blessed by an amazing cast of Irish talent with all our regulars all returning and a few great additions to the team including the brilliant Deirdre O'Kane as Bridget’s Mother. It's a full-on Irish Mammy face-off between her and Bridget in the first episode of the series.
"The crew really stepped up again and put their heart and soul into the show. It's not always an easy one to work on as we're quite ambitious about what we want to do with the budget that we have and so we ask a lot of the crew but it's never not a fun job."
In series 3, Bridget & Eamon accidentally star in a porn video, they both join a camogie team, start rival radio stations and open a video shop in the house. In other episodes Bridget goes to extreme lengths to get on the bus to Lourdes, Eamon gets into a fight and he runs a Wolf of Wall Street style market research company and Bridget's Mother comes for Sunday lunch with her new young boyfriend.
The series regulars all return - Edwin Sammon as Fr Gabriel, Colum McDonnell as Fierce Handy Frank, Bridget’s “friends” and neighbours - Norma Sheahan as Noreen, Sharon Mannion as Concepta, Eleanor Tiernan as Dolores and Laura O’Mahony as Grainne. John Colleary and Patrick McDonnell will of course feature as returning characters Jimmy and Martin.
Guest stars include Deirdre O’Kane as Bridget’s Mother, Paddy Courtney as Johnny Logan’s Second Cousin and Ciara O’Callaghan as Mary, the Camogie Team Captain.
