23 Nov 2021 : News Desk
Departure: Season Two
Departure 2, starring Irish actor Jason O’Mara, Archie Panjabi, and Christopher Plummer, is co-produced with Canadian production company Shaftesbury with VFX and post production services provided by Screen Scene in Dublin.

The Deadpan thriller is now available to watch in the UK and Ireland on Sky Witness and streams weekly on Now TV.

Paul Donovan and Ailish McElmeel of Deadpan Productions feature as executive producers on the series, which stars Archie Panjabi as Kendra Malley Christopher Plummer as Howard Lawson, and Jason O’Mara as Max O’Neill.

“Departure 2 is a high-quality crash investigation thriller, which we are delighted to co-produce for Shaftesbury in Canada,” executive producer Paul Donovan told IFTN. “They had been our minority partners on Dead Still previously so it was a pleasure to assist them this time around and build on our relationship.”

“Screen Scene provided the VFX and post services in Ireland, and managed to add huge production value to the show despite the obvious challenges of an international co-production during Covid,” Donovan continued. “Irish audiences are among the first to see this ‘edge of your seat’ series on Sky Witness and Now TV.”

A six-part event series, Departure 2 follows the investigation into the derailment of a state-of-the-art high-speed train, The Apollo. The brilliant investigator, Kendra Malley (Archie Panjabi), is recruited to the US to find the cause of the devastation in rural Michigan. With the eyes of the entire world on her, Kendra and her team unravel a series of interconnected threads which lead to a number of mysterious motives. Was it the tech mogul inventor of the train’s automation software? Was it a mysterious member of a Mexican drug cartel? Was it a disgruntled employee resisting new technology? Working in conjunction with the FBI, Kendra must race to uncover the truth behind the crash and help to heal the damage caused by the terrible tragedy.

Produced by Patrick Cassavetti, Teresa M. Ho, Julie Lacey, and Tina Grewal, the series is written by Vince Shiao, Malcolm MacRury, John Krizanc, Nikolijne Troubetzkoy, and Marsha Greene. Other cast includes Kris Holden-Ried, Karen LeBlanc, Donal Logue, Mark Rendall, Etienne Kellici, Kelly McCormack, Wendy Crewson, Charlie Carrick, Dion Johnstone, David Hewlett, Greg Bryk, and Florence Ordesh.

Departure: Season Two is a Canada / Ireland Co-Production from Shaftesbury (Canada) and Deadpan Pictures (Ireland), in Association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Television and Red Arrow Studios International.

The series is a Peacock Original Series for NBCUniversal.
