RTÉ New Drama 'Acceptable Risk' Stars Elaine Cassidy, Angeline Ball & Morten Suurballe
21 Sep 2017 :

RTÉ today launched its brand new six part drama series Acceptable Risk with a press screening of the first episode in the Irish Film Institute in Temple Bar, Dublin.

Cast members Elaine Cassidy (No Offence), Angeline Ball (The Commitments) and Morten Suurballe (The Killing) were in attendance at the screening along with Emmy award winner screenwriter Ron Hutchinson (Traffic), director Kenny Glenaan (Charlie), producers Siobhan Burke and James Mitchell and Head of RTÉ Television Drama, Jane Gogan.

The cast also includes Lisa Dwyer Hogg (The Fall), Risteárd Cooper (Charlie), Catherine Walker (The Clinic) and Rory Nolan (Breaking Dad).

This contemporary drama is played out in Dublin and Montreal and begins when Lee Manning (Paul Popowich), a top executive for a multi-national company, is shot and dumped in the middle of Montreal while on a business trip. His wife Sarah Manning (Elaine Cassidy) is devastated by the death of her husband and she struggles in the aftermath of her loss. Investigating garda, Detective Sergeant Emer Byrne (Angeline Ball), is convinced this is not a straightforward case, and Sarah is not as innocent as she seems.

RTÉ's Head of Television Drama Jane Gogan said: “Ron Hutchinson’s unique script and Kenny Glenaan’s distinctive directing style with Acceptable Risk bring together a superb cast in our new serial drama from Saffron Pictures/Soho Moon Pictures. We're delighted to bring to this dynamic drama to Irish audiences.”

The first episode airs on Sunday 24 September on RTÉ One at 9.30pm and will run for six weeks.

Acceptable Risk is produced for RTÉ by Siobhán Bourke and Kathryn Lennon of Saffron Pictures (Whistleblower) and James Mitchell of Soho Moon Pictures (Croupier) with funding from the Broadcast Authority of Ireland. The drama is a co-production with Canadian producer Facet4 and is co-financed by international distributors DCD Rights and Acorn Media Enterprises.
