Who Lived In My House?
EXCLUSIVE

US media giant NBC Universal has signed a deal with Tile Film’s for thier home grown format ‘Who Lived In My House?’, bringing the Irish concept to the international market.

In April 2010 Tile Films went to MIPTV in Cannes with the format ‘Who Lived In My House’ and entered into talks with various distributors from the UK and US who were interested. Discussions and negotiations continued over the summer and following MIPCOM in October Tile Films agreed to sign a deal with US distributors NBC International for an undisclosed amount. NBC International decided to buy the format outright in order to option it to international markets and will be launching it at MIPTV 2012.

Speaking about the format Yvonne Pilkington, Senior Vice President, Format Sales and Production, NBCU International said, “ 'Who Lived in My House?' is an intriguing mix of history and personal storytelling which truly makes the past come alive for viewers. We have had great interest in the format from broadcasters and production companies worldwide and really believe in its international potential.”

Rachel Towell producer at Tile Films told IFTN, “In the age of super formats like X Factor and Secret Millionaire roaming the globe and delivering huge audiences the fact that a major international player like NBC Universal have invested in this home grown Tile Films format for TG4 is a ringing endorsement of both Irish television creativity and production values.”

This news comes on the back of the arrival of the second series of the show for TG4 ‘Cé a Chónaigh i mo Theachsa?’ being broadcast on TG4 on 12th January at 10pm.‘Who Lived In My House?’ is a documentary series which follows Veteran broadcaster, Manchán Magan as he takes the audience on a fascinating journey into the history of houses around Ireland.

The second series of the show will visit twelve houses around Ireland. In the first episode Manchán will visit Coolatore House in Westmeath where American popstar Michael Jackson lived in 2006. This season of the show was filmed from June to September 2011 around Ireland. The series is currently still in post production in Windmill Lane with editor Daithí Connaughton (Fág an Bealach, Teorainn).

The series is directed by director Ruán Magan (Death or Canada, The Pope’s Children). ‘Cé a Chónaigh i mo Theachsa?’ executive producers are Stephen Rooke (Saving the Titanic, Waterways) of Tile Films and Míchael Ó Meallaigh of TG4 and produced by Rachel Towell (Cromwell in Ireland, Waterways; The Royal Canal) and Rebecca O’Malley (Fág an Bealach, Death or Canada).
