The musical documentary directed by Niall McCann and produced by Nicky Gogan and Paul Welsh screened at the recent Edinburgh Film Festival and it set to have its Irish premiere in Galway this Friday at 20:15.
The musical documentary directed by Niall McCann and produced by Nicky Gogan and Paul Welsh screened at the recent Edinburgh Film Festival and it set to have its Irish premiere in Galway this Friday at 20:15.
The screening will be attended by Niall McCann, Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai), Emma Pollock (The Delgados) and Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand).
The project chronicles the rise of Scotland’s independent music scene in the 90s, led by cult label Chemikal Underground. The team of ‘Lost in France’ describe the project as, “...an intimate film exploring friendship, creativity and some incredible music.”
Such music includes The Delgados, Bis Mogwai, Arab Strap, Franz Ferdiand and other seminal acts. McCann’s previous work includes ‘Art Will Save the World’ which was nominated for the Sound & Vision Award at the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival in 2012.
Screen International have described his latest project as “A warm-spirited mix of glowing nostalgia, tremendous music, gang bonds an on-point politics.”
