Galway Film Fleadh annouce 2016 Bingham Ray New Talent Award nominees

'A Date for Mad Mary' features two 2016 nominees
The contenders for this year’s Bingham Ray New Talent award at the Galway Film Fleadh have been announced. The line-up is composed of a female majority, with actresses Seána Kerslake, Caoilfhionn Dunne and Tara Lee nominated alongside director Peter Foot.

Bingham Ray is described by Galway Film Fleadh as their greatest stalwart. Having been involved with the Fleadh for many years, the independent film executive is praised as follows:

“Bingham gave so much of his time to mentoring filmmakers over the years at the Galway Film Fair, listening, advising, believing and encouraging. The Irish film community benefited hugely from Bingham’s wealth of knowledge across the complete spectrum of the film industry and the many friendships that he made along the way is a testament to his generosity in sharing his experience.“

The 2016 nominees are associated with the following projects:

  • Caoilfhionn Dunne, ‘In View’
  • Seána Kerslake, ‘A Date For Mad Mary’
  • Tara Lee, ‘A Date for Mad Mary’ and ‘Moon Dogs’
  • Peter Foott, ‘The Young Offenders’

The 2015 nominees were Alex Fegan (Older Than Ireland, Mark Noonan (You’re Ugly Too, Lauren Kinsella (You’re Ugly Too, Barry Ward (Pursuit, Blood Cells) and Kathryn Kennedy (My Name is Emily). Kathryn Kennedy received the award for her work on Simon Fitzmaurice’s feature film and returns to the Fleadh this year with ‘It’s Not Yet Dark’, the acclaimed documentary chronicling the extraordinary process of directing with ALS.
