FÍS TV Summit 2018 Announces National and International Guests

The second annual Fís TV Summit will take place in Galway on November 8th.

The summit is a further acknowledgement of the vibrant TV industry here in the West of Ireland. Organised by Galway Film Centre, this one day summit plays host to international and national speakers exploring this year’s theme, Entertainment. In just 2 years, FÍS TV Summit has become a key component in the UNESCO City of Film/Ceantar Scannán calendar. 

Major TV industry executives, creators and producers will take part in talks, panel discussions and networking events. Guests include representatives from RTE, TG4, BBC NI, ITV, Screen Ireland, S4C and many more. 

The first panel ‘Let Me Entertain You’ - a discussion on the latest trends in TV entertainment with the broadcasters will feature special guests Eddie Doyle, Head of Content Production, BBC Northern Ireland, Elen Rhys, Content Commissioner, S4C, Margaret Cameron, Channel Editor, BBC Alba, John McHugh, Head of Entertaimnent, RTE, Máire Ní Chonláin, Head of Entertainment, TG4.

Speaking about the event, Manager of Galway Film Centre, Alan Duggan said:

“We are delighted to welcome content producers from across the country back to Galway for the 2nd annual FÍS TV Summit. With lead sponsors, TG4 and Screen Ireland, and our other supporting partners we have brought together a host of national and international practitioners across entertainment, digital short form, regional funding and returnable series. With lots of opportunities to network and share knowledge with delegates such as Andy Cadman, ITV Executive Producer of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’, FÍS 2018 is not to be missed.” 

Galway’s TV industry has grown exponentially over the last thirty years and employment continues to increase year on year. This international summit is aimed at producers, directors, writers and content creators throughout Ireland. It will feature panel discussions with broadcasters, funders and creators who will share their invaluable experience and insight with attendees. The day will be interspersed with networking opportunities and one-to-one meetings for producers. Ireland’s TV sector continues to flourish with the addition of the WRAP Fund, which was announced at the inaugural TV summit.

Panel sessions feature a host of broadcasting leaders and innovators discussing topics including ‘Let Me Entertain You - a discussion on the latest trends in TV entertainment with the broadcaster’, ‘Funding Across the Regions - a guide to regional funding around in Ireland & Europe’, ‘Get To The Point - looking at short form online digital content’, ‘Bread and Butter - a look at returnable series and brand formats for sustainability’ plus a case study on a highly successful long running entertainment programmes. This event is hosted by Galway Film Centre.
