The 29th edition of the leading Irish festival which runs from the 11th-16th of July will kick off with Pat Collins’ ‘Song of Granite’, which had its world premiere at SXSW this March.
The Marcie Films project is produced by Alan Maher and Jessie Fisk, alongside Martin Paul-Hus at Amerique Films. It combines traditional narrative with documentary, celebrating the music of Joe Heaney while also exploring his life.
At various intervals of Heaney’s life in the project, he is portrayed by Macdara Ó Fátharta (Leap Year), Michael O'Chonfhlaola, and Colm Seoighe (Black 47).

Brendan Muldowney’s ‘Pilgrimage’ starring Tom Holland, Richard Armitage and Jon Bernthal will also screen. This title is already making waves internationally following a Tribeca premiere, seven figure distribution deal with RLJ Entertainment for US rights and and further ten deals with a slate of international distributors last month.
Conor Barry and John Keville of Savage Productions produce, with Muldowney directing a script from Jamie Hannigan. ‘Pilgrimage’ follows a group of endangered yet determined monks in attempting to bring their holiest relic to Rome in 13th century Ireland.
‘Maze’ written and directed by Stephen Burke, and produced by Brendan J. Byrne and Jane Doolan tells of the 1983 prison break from the NI Maze prison. This screening is its world premiere. The prison break in which thirty-eight prisoners escaped is the largest Europe has seen since the second world war. Irish talents Martin McCann, Barry Ward and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor star.
’In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’ is another documentary title set to feature in the 2017 programme. Liam Neeson narrates the project directed by Maurice Fitzpatrick, and demonstrates the relationships forced by Hume with the White House while working toward peace in Northern Ireland.
