Kildare County Council
The films which will be shot on location in Co. Kildare have each received funding of €12,500 to support the productions.

Two previous projects supported by the council were recently nominated for awards by the Irish Film & Television Academy; ‘Gridlock’ (Ian Hunt-Duffy) in the Short Film Category and Caoilfhionn Dunne for Best Lead Actress in Film for her performance in ‘In View’ (Ciaran Creagh).

'Rip to the Rescue!'
Written by Cian Mc Garrigle, directed by Paudie Baggott and produced by Sarah Barr, this project is a dark sci-fi comedy. The film is set in post-apocalyptic Ireland where a suave American jet pilot tries to rescue a beautiful young woman from her domineering mother but he soon finds out that in the midlands, family can be deadly. The creative team said that they were 'over the moon', in receiving the commission.

'Taking Stock'
Written and directed by Siobhan McMahon and produced by Emma Owen of Babyjane Productions sees a farmer challenged who slowly comes undone protecting his farm.

Siobhan McMahon & Emma Owen:
“We are thrilled to be awarded the Kildare County Council/Short Grass Film Commission. This bursary has given us the opportunity to share our story and create a film that will engage and appeal to a wide-reaching audience. We are delighted to be collaborating with the Kildare Arts Service. Kildare was a natural choice for our film as the locations are a perfect match. We are aware that previous recipients of the award were extremely successful on the festival circuit...the standard has been set!”
