Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) has announced new appointments to the Board of Directors: Vice President & General Manager of Walt Disney Studios, Ireland Trish Long and Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson.

The 2023 edition, which is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, will take place from 23rd February – 4th March 2023, and will be a multi-platform event, bringing the programme directly to the big screen and to audiences in their homes.

Speaking about the appointments, Festival Director Gráinne Humphreys said: "I am delighted to welcome our two distinguished new members to the Board. Both bring a wealth of experience and important skills to bear and will be invaluable additions to our existing team. Trish has been a valued partner to Festival many years and her wisdom and knowledge of the industry is unparalleled. Lenny has been a long standing supporter of  DIFF and his understanding from a filmmakers perspective will be a wonderful resource for the Festival.”

Chair of the Board, Trish Long, said: “I am honoured, to take up the challenge of chairing Dublin International Film Festival, as we enter a new more independent phase of the festival’s development, and as we bring post-pandemic industry learnings to bear on this iconic event in our film calendar. Joining the dedicated and hardworking DIFF board is a personal and professional privilege.” Long continued, “Dublin International Film Festival has long been cherished by the public, and by Irish and international film-makers, for its vibrant programming and innovative industry initiatives. I am so looking forward to these 10 days in 2023, and all they shall bring to film lovers throughout Ireland and beyond, both through our online offerings, and through the buzz and passionate in-person interactions with audiences, stars and professionals in Dublin."

Lenny Abrahamson, whose critically-acclaimed feature, Room, received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, has hosted memorable interviews with international guests at DIFF, including Mike Leigh. Abrahamson’s period psychological thriller, The Little Stranger, had a special DIFF premiere screening in 2018.

“Having been an enthusiastic part of its audience for many years, I’m delighted to join the board of DIFF. I look forward to supporting Gráinne and the whole team as they continue to provide Dublin audiences with the chance to see the best of Irish and world cinema,” added Abrahamson.

Other current Board members include Elaine Gill (Deputy Chair), Aidan Greene, Neasa Hardiman, Ruth Hunter, Louise Kiely, Laurence Mackin, Ola Majekodunmi, Ronan Murphy, Bashir Otukoya, and Paula Woods.
