The Irish Film Board Latest Funding Decisions

Neil Jordan’s ‘The Widow’ currently filming in Dublin, has received the highest figure for fiction feature production, with an allocation of €650,000.

Feature Film Production Funding:

‘The Widow’ has received €650,000 for Neil Jordan’s feature, currently shooting in Dublin. It is a Metropolitan Film Production, written by Neil Jordan and Ray Wright. John Butler’s ‘Papi Chulo’ with Treasure Entertainment has received €600,000 funding. Blinder Films’ ‘Extra Ordinary’, written and directed by Enda Loughman and Mike Ahern has received €625,000 funding.

Co-production:

Parallel Films’ ‘Sweetness in the Belly’ has received €250,000. The film is directed by Zeresenay Mehari and written by Laura Philips. Saoirse Ronan is attached for the lead role. Ripple World’s ‘Justice.net’ has received €150,000, and is written by Thom Richardson and will be directed by Pol Cruchten.

Feature Documentary

Ross Whitaker at True Films has received €xxx for ‘Comeback’.

In Animation, Treehouse Republic has received €xxx for ‘Ballybradden2’. It is directed by Graham Holbrook, and written by Nora King, Noel Magee and Jason Tammemagi. ‘Peek Zoo’ from Igloo Films, has received €xxx. It is written and directed by Kealan O’Rourke.

Additional Production Funding has been awarded to Brown Bag Films ‘Angela’s Christmas, Blinder’s ‘Vita & Virginia’ ad SP Films’ Good Favour’.

Developent Funding

Billy O’Brien has received Development funding of €35,500 for ‘The Doones’ with Element Pictures.  Kirsten Sheridan’s project with Fastnet ‘Until Victory Always’ has received €19500; Pat Collins, Whose ‘Song of Granite’ represents Ireland at the American Academy’s Foreign Language category has received development funding for two projects, ‘That They May Face The Rising Sun’ (€21,480), and ‘The Aran Islands’ (€16,000). Other notable projects include ‘Rosie’ Paddy Breathnach’s feature with Element Pictures, written by Roddy Doyle. ‘Rosie’ has received €20,000 development funding.
