The Irish feature written and directed by Colin Downey (The Shadows) was recently recognised at the Los Angeles Film Review Independent Film awards.
The awards recognise emerging talent in the field of independently produced films, with an emphasis on low-budget projects.
Natalie Cullen and Patrick O’Donnell lead the cast of ‘Daria’, which sees a young woman escape from an abusive relationship, only to find herself in further danger when she finds a stash of money in an abandoned shed.
‘Daria’ has previously screened at Nevada International Film Festival, Mexico International Film Festival and at San Diego's Accolade Global Film Competition. It also enjoyed its US premiere at Trenton Film Festival in New Jersey.
The project has also been recognised with official selection status Toronto Film Week. It will be exclusively released through ArtFilm Cannes after their new catalogue has been finalized following this year's AVIFF festival.
Director Colin Downey:
“Daria is a story I've wanted to tell for several years. We tried to make what filmmakers I admire often call a 'personal' film.”
