Meangadh Fíbín has secured the film and television rights to “Dialann Emily Porter: An Jailtacht”, the debut novel by screenwriter Richie Conroy, which is already in its second print run.
Richie Conroy is a Film and Television screenwriter whose screen credits include the animated feature film ‘Two by Two’, ‘Fran: Assistant Manager’, ‘Drop Dead Weird’ and ‘Fair City.’ Doireann Ní Chorragáin, newly appointed Head of Development with Meangadh Fíbín told IFTN that she is “over the moon” with her first major acquisition for the company and is looking forward to seeing the hilarious, every girl, Emily onscreen.
Set in 1994, ‘Dialann Emily Porter: An Jailtacht’ follows the adventures of the barely cúpla focal toting Emily when she finds herself banished to Irish College in the Gaeltacht. What follows is an epic, comedic journey which will resonate with everyone who ever attended a campa samhradh, had a first céilí kiss or battled teen life in any way.
Speaking about the acquisition, Doireann Ní Chorragáin told IFTN:
“Conroy has created a rich, relatable world weaving both Irish and English together with a finesse never seen before. Meangadh Fíbín is looking forward to working closely with Richie in developing this project over the coming months. Watch out for Emily on screen… go luath!”
