Anthony Byrne & Natalie Dormer's 'In Darkness' Set for July 6th Release Following World Premiere in Edinburgh
04 Jul 2018 : Nathan Griffin
An official release date of Friday, July 6th has been given to Irish director Anthony Byrne’s new thriller ‘In Darkness’, which stars Natalie Dormer (‘Game of Thrones’) and Emily Ratajkowski (‘Gone Girl’).

Co-written by partners Dormer & Byrne, the film had its world premier at the Edinburgh International Film Festival over the weekend.

Speaking about the Edinburgh Premiere, Anthony Byrne told IFTN:

“Having ‘In Darkness’ screen at a festival like Edinburgh was a huge coup for the film and for us as film makers. The festival has such a rich film heritage so to be a part of it this year was immense and it goes without saying that in the lead up to the release of our film it really legitimises it in a way that is hugely beneficial to the film. We can’t wait for the theatrical release on the 6th July followed by the digital platform release on the 9th July and for audiences to finally see it.”

The film boasts a seasoned cast of Ed Skrein (‘Transporter’, ‘Game Of Thrones’), Natalie Dormer (‘Game Of Thrones’, ‘Hunger Games’), Joely Richardson (‘Nip/Tuck, Emerald City’), James Cosmo (‘Braveheart’, ‘Troy’), Jan Bijvoet (‘Peaky Blinders’), and Emily Ratajkowski (‘Gone Girl’).

'In Darkness' follows blind pianist Sofia (Dormer) who overhears a struggle in the apartment above hers that leads to the death of her neighbor Veronique (Ratajkowski). It is the start of a journey that pulls Sofia out of her depth and brings her into contact with Veronique’s father, Milos Radic (Jan Bijvoet), a Serbian businessman accused of being a war criminal. Sofia is drawn into a dangerous world of corruption, investigating police, hitmen and the Russian mafia -- a world with links to Sofia’s own hidden past and a path of revenge she has kept hidden until now.

‘In Darkness’ will go on general release this Friday, July 6th. The film will then release on VoD platforms on July 9th.
