Wolfwalkers was nominated alongside Onward, Over the Moon, A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, and Pixar’s Soul, which were announced by Actress Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas early Monday morning in L.A.

An Apple Original Film, Wolfwalkers is the third animated feature from now three-time Academy Award©-nominee Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea) and Ross Stewart (ParaNorman, Song of the Sea). The film is co-produced by Kilkenny-based Cartoon Saloon and Melusine Productions, and is Variety’s tip to take home the award this year. Paul Young, Nora Twomey, Tomm Moore, and Stéphan Roelants serve as producers.

David Fincher’s Mank leads the nominations with ten in total, followed by The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Sound of Metal and The Trial of the Chicago 7, each receiving six nominations respectively. Those films, along with Promising Young Woman will compete for best picture.

The Oscar ceremony was originally scheduled for 28th February 2021, but has been shifted out to April 25th, due to delays caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
