It has been announced that the animated pre-school series ‘Puffin Rock’ narrated by Irish comic actor Chris O’Dowd (‘Moone Boy’, ‘Bridesmaids’) has been acquired from Paris-based distributor Superights by several more international broadcasters.
These broadcasters include; Hop! in Israel, Daekyo in South Korea, e-Junior in the United Arab Emirates, Sic Kids in Portugal and Mozambique, DR in Denmark, BBC Alba in Scotland and Good TV in Taiwan.
The (78×7′) ‘Puffin Rock’ series is a co-production between Irish animators Cartoon Saloon, Derry, Northern Ireland based Dog Ears and Penguin Random House for RTÉjr in Dublin and Nick Jr in the UK.
‘Puffin Rock’ follows two puffins Oona and her little brother Baba as they explore and have adventures on a fictional island set off the coast of Ireland with their parents and animal friends.
Other International networks that have already acquired the show include streaming service Netflix in territories such as the US and Japan, RUV in Iceland, NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and ABC in Australia.
‘Puffin Rock’ was nominated for 3 Annie Awards this year in various categories including; Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production for Preschool Children, Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production and Outstanding Achievement, Writing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production.
