Three Emmy Award Wins for Brown Bag Films

Brown Bag Film’s ‘Peter Rabbit’ has nabbed three wins and five nominations at the Daytime Emmy Awards which took place on Sunday, June 22.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced the winners for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards which recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production. In addition to the esteemed nominees, Brown Bag swept the board with three wins in individual achievement awards in animation chosen from over 100 entries by a juried live panel in Los Angeles. Art director Stephen Robinson won for production design, 2D designer Eddie Gribbin won for set designer and Marten Jonmark won for best storyboard.

Brown Bag’s five nominations included: Outstanding Special Class Animated Program (Peter Rabbit); Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program (Sarah Bolt, as Jemima Puddleduck); Outstanding Writing in a Preschool Animated Program (Writers Mark Huckerby and Nick Ostler); Outstanding Original Song (‘Spring Has Sprung’ - Composer & Lyricist Peter Zizzo); and Outstanding Original Song – Main Title and Promo (‘Peter Rabbit’ Theme Song - Composer & Lyricist Peter Luyre).

Based on Beatrix Potter’s classic character, ‘Peter Rabbit’, the 3D animation series was created by Brown Bag for Nickelodeon and the BBC. Developed by Silvergated Media, the animated series was made in Brown Bag's Smithfield studio and produced by former Dreamworks production manager, Erik Vignau. Last year the animated series, directed by David McCamley, was commissioned for a second season by Nickelodeon and has received continued success to date.

The NATAS recognise excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Award for News & Documentary, Sports, Daytime Entertainment, Daytime Creative Arts & Entertainment, Public & Community Service, and Technology & Engineering. Other shows nominated across different categories include ‘Curious George’, ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’, ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and ‘The Chase’.
