The Irish screen training organisation has announced two new postgraduate certified programmes in partnership with Technological University Dublin.

Both the Post Graduate Certificate for Advanced Producers Programme and the Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Leadership (also in association with Animation Skillnet), aim to provide fantastic skills development opportunities for the participants and benefit the industry more widely by developing a new generation of talent.

Post Graduate Certificate for Advanced Producers Programme

The Post Graduate Certificate for Advanced Producers Programme has been developed by Screen Skills Ireland in partnership with TU Dublin, and is available via Springboard+. Aimed at up-and-coming producers for Film and TV Drama and using key industry specialists, the Advanced Producers Programme is designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of the script to screen process. It will equip up-and-coming producers with the skills, identified by the industry, to work in established production companies or independently in their own companies at both the national and international level.

The programme will address a wide range of skill areas, such as the development process; financing; legal issues; budgeting and scheduling; production; post-production; management and negotiation skills; sales and distribution; festivals, markets and pitching.  The need for market-ready producers has grown, especially those with knowledge of development, the changing production and distribution landscape and skills in negotiation and management. Graduates of the programme will gain the skills, confidence, and connections to operate successfully in this rapidly growing and evolving industry.

Speaking about the programme, Gareth Lee, Manager at Screen Skills Ireland, said:

“This programme presents emerging film and TV producers with a fantastic opportunity to gain both the hard skills and transferable skills essential for navigating the international television and film industry.”

Hugh McAtamney, Head of School of Media in TU Dublin, added

“We are excited to be partnering with Screen Skills Ireland on this Level 9 initiative. It’s a natural extension to our portfolio of programmes in Film, TV, journalism, Photography and Game Design.”

Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Leadership

The Post Graduate Diploma in Creative Leadership, aimed at creative sectors like animation, games, VFX, and immersive technologies, has been developed by Screen Skills Ireland in collaboration with TU Dublin and Animation Skillnet and is available via Springboard+.

The Creative Leadership Programme aims to empower its participants to achieve their career goals, realise their leadership potential, and develop the organisations they work for.

This industry-focused programme has been designed in collaboration with key animation, VFX, immersive technologies and games studios to build a talent pool of future leaders, support the sustainable growth of the creative industries, and empower participants to create a thriving climate that drives performance. The programme aims to transform participants from operators and creatives to competent leaders within their creative organisations.

This programme will be aimed at individuals that have moved or wish to move from a technical or creative role into a position where they are leading a creative team. Participants will explore the key issues and opportunities that inspire successful leaders to drive ambition and transform culture within their organisation.

Speaking about the programme, Gareth Lee, Manager of Screen Skills Ireland, said

“We’re delighted to partner with TU Dublin on this much-needed programme, which will benefit both individual participants and the animation, VFX, games and related industries more widely by developing a new generation of leadership talent.”

Dr Caroline O’Sullivan, Head of Creative Media in the School of Media at TU Dublin, added:

“The need for advanced skills in creative leadership has been identified by industry and this unique programme is a fantastic opportunity for those who are to the forefront of the Creative Industries in Ireland to bring their skills to the next level.”

Now part of Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Screen Skills Ireland designs, develops and delivers industry-focused skills development initiatives for the screen sector in Ireland, encompassing film, TV, animation, games and VFX, for all roles from new entrants to company leaders.
