Deadpan Pictures’ comedy ‘Nowhere Fast’ will air on RTE2 tonight at 10pm. .

Starring alongside Spittle are Clare Monnelly (Moone Boy), Genevieve Hulme Beaman (Pondling) as Angela’s best friends Mary and Brid, with Angela’s family being played by a stellar cast including Cathy Belton (Red Rock/Roy) and Mark Doherty (Moone Boy/ A Film with Me in It).

The Series is written by Spittle and Simon Mulholland, with additional writing by Cian McGarrigle. We’re delighted that we’ve managed to coax International Emmy and BAFTA winning director Simon Gibney (Bull for UKTV) back to Dublin for this series.

Nowhere Fast is a comedy about women in rural Ireland, and one woman in particular. Fresh from a disaster in her media career in the big smoke, Angela returns to her family home to lick her wounds and plan her next move. Can she escape the quicksand of small town Ireland and get her life back on track? And in the meantime can she keep her friends and family happy so she can get lifts?

The series is commissioned by RTE 2 with the support of BAI, Section 481 and with BBC Worldwide selling international rights.

Producer Ailish McElmeel said “Thrilled to be bringing Alison Spittle’s Nowhere Fast to RTE audiences. Nowhere Fast captures Alison’s unique voice. Yet again RTE and the BAI have supported a strong female series, with BBC Worldwide on board to sell internationally. Cast and crew have delivered above and beyond on this… looking forward to seeing what Irish audience make of it.”

Alison Spittle added “My nerves, I'll be breathing into a brown paper bag tonight at ten o'clock. Thanks for all the good wishes, especially from my home village of Ballymore, my mum's been relaying all the goss over the weekend.”

Director Simon Gibney adds “Working with the caliber of comedy cast brings this insightful script to life, we knew exactly where it was going fast! And allowed me direct the funniest minds around to deliver a warm and sharp show. Right through the process, from script reads and rehearsal, to filming and honing in the edit, it was a fun bus to be on, only one person died, another fired and several relationship ruined, but thankfully all captured on screen! Personally, I really enjoyed making this real honest comedy, with dollop of notions!”

Eddie Doyle, Head of Comedy at RTÉ said, “Alison Spittle is one of the most exciting talents on the Irish comedy scene, and ‘Nowhere Fast’ showcases her comic writing and acting wonderfully well. Deadpan Productions have done a fantastic job supporting Alison and the cast and crew, to generate an extremely high quality contemporary Irish comedy series”
