04 Oct 2017 :
A new short film collaboration between director Dave Tynan and choreographer Oona Doherty has just been released online.

Filmed earlier this year in Belfast, ‘A Concrete Song’ is born of the original poem by Oona Doherty, which has inspired her ‘Hard to be Soft’ performance series, while Dave prepares for the release of his first feature film, ‘Dublin Oldschool’ in 2018.

The short was choreography and performance by Oona Doherty, directed by Dave Tynan, filmed by Hugh O'Conor, produced by Dawn Mac Allister and Edited by Ross Bradshaw. The Score was composed by David Holmes, Sound mixing was done by Will Farrell, colourist was Dave Hughes and Designer Ronan Dillon.

Co-commissioned by Prime Cut Productions, Belfast International Arts Festival, Dublin Dance Festival and the Abbey Theatre, ‘Hard To Be Soft is’ supported by The British Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s Major Individual Artist award, an accolade presented to Doherty by ACNI in 2016.

Kerry director Bertie Brosnan has secured a distribution deal with Shorts TV via distribution outfit, Bidslate. Brosnan’s Short films ‘Sineater’ and ‘Jacob Wrestling with the Angel’ have both been selected at a number of film festivals including: Cannes Short Film Corner, Hollywood North Film Festival, Clones Film Festival, Fastnet Film Festival, Kerry Film Festival, and Cork Film Festival.

Bertie Brosnan, Director said:

“It's been a long journey from the production of JWWTA & Sineater to this moment to finally see my first short films distributed through a legitimate network. I am delighted for all involved because we have a chance to showcase all our work to the world. Being a non-exclusive deal I am open to shopping the films around to other networks and through pay-per-view sites. Thanks to everyone involved especially Roland of Bidslate for making sure we got the deal done.”

‘Sineater’ follows a young successful man who is forced into looking at his wrongdoings by a mysterious driver who claims to be a family relative. The short stars Joe Mullins (Gridlock) and Sean McGillicuddy (South).

‘Jacob Wrestling with the Angel,’ takes a dark peek into a young unhinged artist’s struggle between finishing his masterpiece and a dangerous obsession with a mysterious woman. The short stars Michael O’Sullivan (Remembering Yesterday) and Amy Hughes (Vikings).

Both films were shot by Blaine Rennicks (Smoking Guns, Delerium)
