'It's Not Yet Dark' Confirmed for October 13th Irish Release Date
22 Aug 2017 :
Following on from its US release, Frankie Fenton’s award-winning documentary on the life of Irish filmmaker Simon Fitzmaurice will be released in cinemas across Ireland by Wildcard Distribution on Friday 13th October.

Narrated by Colin Farrell, It’s Not Yet Dark tells the ground-breaking story of Simon, who has lived with Motor Neuron Disease since 2008, as he embarks on directing his first feature film My Name Is Emily through the use of his eyes and eye gaze technology. The film borrows its title from Simon’s autobiography, which was published in 2015, around halfway through the documentary project.

Speaking about the Irish release, director Frankie Fenton said:  "I'm thrilled that our film is finally coming home to Irish and UK audiences this October. It has received an amazing response worldwide especially in the States and I'm just glad Simon and Ruth’s story can now be seen on big screens nationwide."

The film had its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year where it was nominated for the World Cinema Documentary Award and has since screened at festivals across the globe including the Edinburgh Film Festival, the Sydney International Film Festival and the Galway Film Fleadh, where it won the awards for Best Irish Feature Documentary and Best Cinematography in an Irish Feature (Kate McCullough).

Not only has Simon written his own memoir of his life, his wife Ruth Fitzmaurice has also written a book 'I Found My Tribe’ which explores her life with Simon.

It’s Not Yet Dark was produced by Kathryn Kennedy and Lesley McKimm for Kennedy Films and Newgrange Films with funding from the Irish Film Board and Wellcome Trust, and is distributed by Wildcard Distribution.
