RTÉ's ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Line-up Revealed
12 Dec 2016 :
The full line-up for RTÉ's ‘Dancing With The Stars’ has been revealed with comedian Katherine Lynch, Des Bishop, model Thalia Heffernan, RTÉ reporter Teresa Mannion, sports broadcaster Des Cahill and Dr. Eva Orsmond, amongst the eleven names set to compete in the dance off starting in January.

Other names include ‘HomeTown’ singer Dayl Cronin, ‘Big Brothe’r star Hughie Maughan, Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony, actresses Aoibhin Garrihy and Denise McCormack.

Amanda Byram and Nicky Byrne will be co-presenting the first series of the show, which will air on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from 6.30pm on Sunday, 8th January.

Speaking about her participation on the show, Dr. Eva Orsmond said: “I am extremely lucky to have an opportunity like this and it could not have come at a better time in my life. I have always wanted to learn to dance and to really focus my time on it but I have never had the time. It’s like a dream come true!”

Des Bishop recently confirmed his participation in the show on Friday night’s ‘Late Late Show’ comedian.

Denise McCormack , who currently plays the role of Bridget Kiely in TV3's ‘Red Rock’ and won an IFTA for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Linda in RTÉ's  ‘Love/Hate’, said: “I am thrilled to be taking part in Dancing with the Star. It’s such a privilege. I have always loved dancing and I did a bit as a kid but to learn it professionally is a whole new challenge.”

Airing on RTÉ One for 12 weeks from 6.30pm Sunday 8th January, a total of 11 celebrities some who think they can bust a move and some with two left feet, will pair up with their professional dancing partners to test their twinkle toes. Each pairing will have a different dancing genre to master every week from the cha-cha to mambo to tango and they’ll have just seven days to perfect their routine before performing live to the nation.

There will be no elimination in the first two weeks. Following on from week two one celebrity will be voted off until the final on Sunday 26th March when remaining contestants and their partners will compete to be crowned the first champions of RTÉs Dancing with the Stars

The two-hour show will be broadcast from Sunday 8th January until 26th March 2017

Dancing with the Stars is produced by ShinAwil for RTÉ.
