‘The Field’ tells the story of Ireland’s fascination with the land, both North and South of the border.
The Field series focuses on real cases with expert testimony, which give insight into land disputes and shed light on the stories and outcomes of disputes. Providing a timely and compelling snapshot of just how deadly this obsession can prove to be.
Park Films, in association with Imagine Media made the 6-part documentary series for TG4 & Northern Ireland Screen’s Irish Language Broadcast fund.
The series was written by Sean O’ Meallaigh (Ros na Rún; Scéal, Breith agus Bás) and features Pilip Mac Cathmhaoill (Taisce na Tuaithe) as interviewer and narrator. And the Creator & Series Producer is AnneMarie Naughton.
With a large selection of both well-known and fresh new faces they uncover the reasons behind our obsession with land and the resulting effects on the individual, the family and society as a whole. Each of the six part series will be themed, using 19 real cases to explore what propelled protagonists and antagonists into unthinkable situations.
With the first episode airing last week receiving a great response, you can catch episode 2: Family Ties / Gaol Gairid tonight, at 10pm on TG4 and again every Sunday at 9pm.
