The ‘Sherlock’ villain leads the cast of the upcoming thriller, directed by Simon Fellows and written by Brendan Higgins.
The project is set to commence shooting in Georgia this Friday August 26th, with Scott set to play a truck driver who takes it upon himself to investigate the death of a young boy. His character struggles to prove the boy has been murdered, as the investigation begins to become an obsession.
Northern Irish actress Bronagh Waugh, best known for her roles in ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘The Fall’, alongside fellow Irish actress Denise Gough (Jimmy’s Hall). Gough is also highly commended for her stage acting, having received an Olivier Best Actress Award for her work on ‘People, Places And Things’.
‘Steel Country’ is set to be fully financed by Motion Picture Capital, who will produce alongside Gareth Ellis-Unwin of Bedlam Films, and Tai Duncan and Mark Williams of Zero Gravity Management.
Ellis-Unwin has commended the quality of Higgins’ script, with which he says Fellows will deliver a fantastic contemporary film.
IFTA-winning Scott also stars in John Butler’s ‘Handsome Devil’, which is set to premiere at TIFF 2016.
