The RTÉ 2 comedy is to screen at Irish Screen America Sunday October 1st, 2016.
Starring Ray Bingham New Talent Award Winner and ‘A Date for Mad Mary’ star Seana Kerslake, ‘Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope’ centres on two twenty-somethings living in Co. Cork.
Kerslake stars alongside ‘Traders’ talent Nika McGuigan as Aisling and Danielle in, whose drinking, drama and relationship spirals out of control throughout the six-part series.
The project is written by Stefanie Preissner and produced by Ailish McElmeel, and is produced for RTÉ 2 by Deadpan Pictures. Cathy Brady directed the series and also delivered a Director’s Masterclass at the 2015 festival.
McElmeel stated earlier this year: “Stefanie’s writing truly is the ‘voice of her generation’ and with the multi-award winning Cathy Brady at the helm we really are in new territory in terms of the Dublin we’re exploring.”
Irish Screen America, formerly known as Irish Film New York, supports and guides Irish media-makers by showcasing their work and fostering partnerships in the two largest cities for the entertainment industry in the United States – New York and Los Angeles. The organization holds screenings, industry panels, discussions and master classes throughout the year.
In an interview with Irish Screen America, shown below, McGuikan commends the female-driven production, plot and execution of the project.
‘Can't Cope, Won't Cope’ is commissioned by RTÉ2 with the support of BAI and Section 481 and with Content Media representing international rights.
