Shooting is underway in Belfast of political drama ‘The Journey’ which charts the unlikely friendship between Northern Irish politicians Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness.
The film, which is being produced by Greenroom/Tempo Entertainment, Nick Hamm, Mark Huffam, and Piers Tempest, stars Colm Meaney and Timothy Spall as Martin McGuinness and Ian Paisley respectively.
The dramatic comedy is described as a ‘fictional account of the extraordinary story of two implacable enemies in Northern Ireland - firebrand Democratic Unionist Party leader Paisley and Sinn Fein politician Martin McGuinness - who are forced to take a short journey together in which they will take the biggest leap of faith and change the course of history.’
Northern Ireland Screen are partially financing the project along with Lipsync and IM Global, who are also handling international sales.
Nick Hamm (‘Killing Bono’) is directing from a script by Colin Bateman and the cast also includes Freddie Highmore, John Hurt, Toby Stephens and Ian Beattie.
