News from MIPCOM where Sundance TV has signed a co-production deal with Zodiak Rights for Irish historical drama series ‘Rebellion’.
‘Rebellion’ is a five-part serial drama which charts the violent birth of modern Ireland. The serial begins in 1914. Europe is at war and Britain is preoccupied with the German threat. But by 1916 in Dublin, the Easter Rising explodes into life and announces the beginning of a campaign for independence that will take another seven years to resolve. The series shot in and around Dublin in the summer of 2015.
The series stars Irish actors Charlie Murphy, Brian Gleeson, Sarah Greene, Barry Ward, Barry Keoghan, Michelle Fairley and Ruth Bradley. Maureen Hughes was the Casting Director for the drama.
‘Rebellion’ is produced by Zodiak Media Ireland and Touchpaper Television with Sundance TV and in association with Element Pictures. The series is written by Colin Teevan, directed by Aku Louhimies, and produced by Catherine Magee. The cinematographer was Tim Fleming and Production Designer was Derek Wallace. The drama is currently being posted at Windmill Lane Pictures Post Production with sound post being completed at Screen Scene where Michelle Fingleton is the supervising sound editor/sound designer and Garret Farrell will be mixing. Aku Louhimies’ regular collaborator Benjamin Mercer is editing.
‘Rebellion’ will air on RTÉ in 2016, as well as on Sundance TV.
