Blinder Films’ sci-fi web-series ‘Rapt’ won the Critic’s Choice Award at this year’s Raindance Web Fest, held in London over the weekend.
The four part series was released on the RTÉ player earlier this year as part of the RTÉ Storyland project, in association with the Irish Film Board. Rapt is set in Dublin, where, in a single instant, everyone inexplicitly disappears. Everyone, that is, but paramedic and single mum Ange Smith, played by Sarah Jane Seymour, who finds herself alone in an empty world and desperate to find her way home to her baby daughter. Except the world isn't as empty as she might have thought with strange and dangerous forces are on the prowl.
Directed by Kieron J. Walsh, written by Devin John Doyle and produced by Yvonne Donohoe for Blinder Films.
‘Rapt’ was honoured with the Critic’s Choice award from a programme of over 70 series selected for this year’s Web Fest.
Now in its third year, Raindance Web Fest is the online wing of the official Raindance Film Festival, aimed at showcasing the talent coming through online, short-form production.
Blinder Films latest productions include Jane Austen adaptation ‘Love and Friendship’ (directed by Whit Stillman), currently in post-production, and ‘The Queen of Ireland’, a documentary following drag-queen and accidental activist Panti Bliss against the backdrop of the gay rights movement in Ireland, due to be released October 21st.
