The Annecy International Film Festival returns for its’ 55th annual event this week with Irish projects ‘Nelly and Nora’, ‘Bing’ and ‘Snowfall’ screening in competition.

The episode “Bye Bye” is selected for competition with the series centring on the noisy, joyful, messy reality of life as a pre-schooler, with stories full of the everyday dramas that all young children and the grown-ups in their lives will recognise. Directed by Nicky Phelan and Jeroen Jaspaert, the animation is provided by Declan Doyle while the art directors are Stephen O'Connor and Stephen Robinson. The show premiered on cBeebies in June 2014, going on to be nominated for a BAFTA for Best Pre-School Animation as well as Pulcinella Award.

Screening in the Short Film section is ‘Snowfall’, about an anxious young man who has a moving experience at a friend's house party – an experience of fleeting love, mixed emotions and human interactions. The animation, which is almost five minutes long, is produced and directed by Conor Whelan with music from Basenji Abaac and Fab Martini and sound from Fab Martini.

The Annecy International Film Festival runs until Saturday, June 20.
