The deadline for the new the Irish Film Board (IFB) short film scheme AFTER '16 is FRIDAY, MARCH 20th.
AFTER '16 is a once-off initiative to fund up to eight short films commemorating, celebrating and ruminating on 1916 and how the events of Easter Monday and beyond forged the landscape of the following century. This new exciting scheme will run instead of the usual IFB short film schemes Gearrscannán, Reality Bites and Signatures in 2015 for one year only.
The IFB would like to invite filmmakers to give their response to 1916 and the hundred years since. They are looking for stories, both fact and fiction, which illuminate, surprise and even provoke on the wide subject of 1916 and what is has left in its wake.
These stories can be contemporary or period, live action or animation and we welcome projects in both English and Irish language.
Applications from established film-makers as well as newer talent will be welcomed.
The stories should be ambitious and imaginative with the ability to appeal to both local and international audiences.
The films must be ready for delivery no later than JANUARY 2016.
The funding available from the scheme is up to €70k each for up to four fiction films between 8 and 12 minutes in length and up to €40k each for up to four documentary films between 8 and 12 minutes in length.
To read the guidelines and make an application please visit the Funding Programmes section of the IFB website.
Applications can be made online using the 'Make an Application' button on the AFTER '16 guidelines page.
Please note that the Gearrscannáin, Reality Bites and Signatures schemes will be on hiatus for 2015.
