The 2014 Belfast Media Festival will take place from Thursday, November 6th until Friday, November, 7th at the Metropolitan Arts Centre (MAC) in Belfast.

The festival kicks off with a welcome from host William Crawley and opening keynote from Danny Cohen, Director of BBC Television.

An eclectic mix of sessions, speakers and networking events have been lined up for attendees including the CultureTECH and Digital Space events.

Other speakers at this year’s festival include:

  • Adrian Lynch, new Controller of RTÉ One
  • Alison Millar, a highly regarded producer/director and one of the first selected producers to complete the BBC’s Executive Producer course in 2004
  • Allan Gildea, 20 years experience working as a director and motion graphics artist for clients such as the BBC, CBS, MTV, UTV, RTE and others
  • Andy Jones, Principal Technologist at the BBC Academy
  • Andy King, responsible for the strategic relationship between BBC Technology and BBC Television
  • Colin Williams, founder and Creative Director at Sixteen South Television

Other events at the festival include Digital Space, the place to go for networking showcasing some of the latest technology on show from BBC Northern Ireland and the BBC Academy providing a host of free training sessions and digital demos.

The Belfast Media Festival returns to CultureTECH – Northern Ireland’s largest technology and creative industries event – with a unique new programme aimed at early-stage professionals in the media industries. Supported by Honeycomb Creative Works, it is aimed squarely at young people starting off in the business.

Keith Bailey will be providing free post-production and creative media application training and demonstrations at this year’s Belfast Media Festival. There will be limited seat sessions and group-audience demonstrations of video and compositing software such as Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro and After Effects.

Also this year, the BBC is running a series of one hour ‘Creative Pop Ups’. The ‘Creative Pop Ups’ offer ways to develop ideas and projects in order to give them the best chance of actually happening in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
