28 Oct 2014 : Seán Brosnan
VFX: Script to Screen is a MEDIA-supported European VFX programme providing producers, directors and key creatives from Europe with an overview of visual effects from development to post-production over two intensive modules, as well as providing access to the highest level of local and international visual effects talent for project-based VFX consultations.

Screen Training Ireland, part of the Irish Film Board, announced the programme which is designed in partnership with the VFX Association of Ireland.

Speakers for module two include:

  • Francois Dumoulin, VFX Supervisor in Rodeo FX Canada talking about their work on Luc Besson’s ‘Lucy’, starring Scarlett Johansson
  • Katharina Kessler from Mackevision in Germany, VFX Producer on ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Rush’ and ‘Hugo’
  • Ditch Doy, VFX Supervisor in Dublin’s Windmill Lane VFX presenting a case study of their VFX work on Jake Paltrow’s ‘Young Ones’

The first module of the programme was production-focused and took place in July with a live VFX shoot incorporating stunts and special effects. The second module, taking place from the 29th to 31st of October, will focus on post production, including a day in Windmill Lane’s VFX facility, where they will be exposed to VFX technologies, processes, workflow and asset management tools.

Other areas covered in module two will include post-production and how VFX interacts with editorial, post-production scheduling; the future of VFX including VFX, animation and games convergence; and co-producing European VFX projects.

Screen Training Ireland, part of the Irish Film Board, provides on-going training for the screen sectors through the delivery of world class training initiatives.

VFX: Script to Screen is an initiative of Screen Training Ireland supported by the MEDIA Programme 2007-2013 of the European Union. The VFX Association of Ireland (VFXAI), founded by Egg, Piranha Bar, Screen Scene and Windmill Lane, promotes Ireland nationally and internationally as a VFX centre of excellence and a destination with talent and scale.
