TV Roles for Actors Colin Farrell and Killian Scott
15 Jul 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Farrell is up for a role in the second series of HBO series ‘True Detective’ while Scott has landed parts in BBC series ‘Siblings’ and ‘Call the Midwife’

Colin Farrell, best-known for his roles in films like ‘Phone Booth’, ‘In Bruges’ and ‘Alexander’ (as well as upcoming Irish co-productions ‘Miss Julie’ and ‘The Lobster’), could be returning to the small screen in his first major TV role since BBC series ‘Ballykissangel’, the show that put the Dublin native on the map.

Since last weekend, it has been reported that he is in deep discussions to star in the second season of acclaimed HBO crime series ‘True Detective’. It is reported that Farrell and Taylor Kitsch, star of ‘John Carter’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’, are the favourites to replace Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the drama series. McConaughey and Harrelson were recently among the 12 nominations that the first season of the series garnered for the Emmy awards (‘Game of Thrones’ received 17 nominations).

It is believed that the series will have three main roles and be based in California. John Brolin, Brad Pitt, Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, and Christian Bale have previously been mentioned in connection with the second season. In a Thursday afternoon panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo suggested the network likely would be able to confirm casting information in the next couple of weeks. He also suggested that the cast will likely consist of well-known actors.

Meanwhile, another Dublin-born actor, Killian Scott, has also landed international screen roles. Scott is best-known for his role as gangster Tommy in all four seasons of hit series ‘Love/Hate’ and is therefore no stranger to the silver screen.

The 29-year-old will take on roles in BBC’s new comedy series ‘Siblings’ as well as the broadcaster’s award-winning drama ‘Call the Midwife’. Six episodes of ‘Siblings’ have been commissioned and the programme is expected to air its first season later this year. It tells the story of the world's worst brother and sister and the chaos they cause.

Scott will also join the cast of Miranda Hart’s ‘Call the Midwife’ in the coming weeks for filming and will feature in its fourth season. The programme, which started in 2012 and is focused on the residents of Nonnatus House in the 1960s, has already begun shooting the forthcoming installment of eight episodes for a 2015 broadcast date.

In addition to his work in television, he has also taken on a number of movie projects. He recently starred in black comedy ‘Calvary’ opposite Brendan Gleeson and will likely be seen on the big screen next in ‘Get Up and Go’, due out later this year. He is next scheduled to shoot feature film ‘Trespass Against Us’, alongside Michael Fassbender and Gleeson again.
