Coen Brothers to Pen Steven Spielberg Movie
Joel and Ethan Coen have come on-board to pen a draft of the untitled Steven Spielberg – Tom Hanks screenplay.
The Cold War thriller at DreamWorks tells the true story of James Donovan, an attorney who was thrust into the centre of the Cold War when he negotiated with the KGB for the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers. Marc Platt will produce the film along with Spielberg. The Coen Brothers, who won screenwriting Oscars for ‘Fargo’ and ‘No Country for Old Men’, are currently revising Matt Charman’s original script. Hanks previously worked with the Coen brothers on the 2004 crime thriller ‘The Ladykillers’ and with Spielberg on ‘Saving Private Ryan’, ‘The Terminal’, ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Band of Brothers’. Filming is pencilled in to start in September in Europe.
Spielberg diary is fast becoming booked up with the director already committing to adapt Roald Dahl’s ‘The BFG’ for DreamWorks. He is also in talks with DreamWorks to direct the new movie ‘Robopocalypse’ and the historical drama ‘Montezuma’.
Disney & Marvel’s First Animated Feature Film
Images for Walt Disney Animation and Marvel’s first animated feature film ‘Big Hero 6’ have been released.
‘Big Hero 6’, a movie adaptation of the Marvel comic book series of the same name that will be released this November, is co-directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt) with a script that Jordan Roberts (3,2,1...Frankie Go Boom) co-wrote with the former. The film marks the first collaboration between Walt Disney Animation Studios and Marvel. The story follows brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. The animation is voiced by T.J Miller (How to Train Your Dragon), Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) and Jamie Chung (The Hangover).
Disney will release the animated film in the US on November 7 and in Europe the following February. The movie’s first trailer will premiere online tomorrow but until then you can check out the first official ‘Big Hero 6’ movie stills.
Colin Firth Turns Action Hero in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’
20th Century Fox have released the first trailer for ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, starring Colin Firth.
The new action flick follows Firth’s 007-type character Jack Unwin, a seemingly mild-mannered London tailor who is also a veteran member of a band of smartly-dressed secret agents. Unwin takes in a young criminal full of potential, putting him through the toughest job interview imaginable. ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’, from ‘X-Men: First Class’ director Matthew Vaughn, is based off the Mark Millar graphic novel of the same name. This is Vaughn's second adaptation of Millar's work, having helmed the live-action version of ‘Kick-Ass’ in 2010. The film also stars Michael Caine as the head of the spy organization, and Samuel L. Jackson as the villain, as well as Stanley Tucci and Jack Davenport.
The film is slated for an October 2014 release. Check out the trailer below:
