Big Mountain Productions Shoot in DKIT TV Studio
28 Apr 2014 : Aisling Newton
Big Mountain Productions, the production company behind successful formats such as ‘Craft Master’ and ‘The Genealogy Roadshow’, recently collaborated with staff and students in the Section of Creative Media in DKIT, shooting a room run for a new entertainment show in the multi-cam HD TV Studio on the DKIT campus.

The shoot, which was attended by commissioning editors from both TV3 and SKY, took place over two days and allowed students on the BA & BA (Hons) in Video & Film Production to gain vital experience in the running of a live TV studio. Building upon their practice to date, the students crewed the TV Studio for the shoot, performing such roles as Camera Operators, Floor Manager, Prompter, Vision Mixer, VT Editor and Audio Technician.

Speaking of the collaboration between Big Mountain and the Section of Creative Media, Jane Kelly, Executive Producer, stated; “We hope that the relationship we are building with DKIT continues and are particularly indebted that we could avail of the facilities which also impressed the commissioners from TV3 and Sky who came to the room run specifically.”

Sarah McCann, Head of Section of Creative Media added; “Big Mountain Productions have been a strong supporter of the BA & BA (Hons) in Video & Film Production since its inception, having attended the college for a recent industry forum and also having provided work placements for our students over the last number of years. “

The Section of Creative Media is based in the recently renovated Carrolls building on the DKIT campus, equipped with a full HD TV Studio, a HD screening room with Dolby Surround Sound and editing labs & suites.
