Robert Sheehan set to star in indie drama ‘The Road Within’
Irish actor Robert Sheehan will star alongside Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Skins) and Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class, After Earth) in the indie drama ‘The Road Within’; a remake of the award-winning German film ‘Vincent Will Meer’. The film is the directorial debut of actress and screenwriter Gren Wells, writer of the 2011 film ‘A Little Bit of Heaven’, which starred Kate Hudson and Gael Garcia Bernal. Sheehan will play Vincent, a young man suffering from Tourette syndrome who ends up in a clinic after his mother dies and his father chooses to run for office. Vincent then falls for an anorexic woman in the facility, Marie (Kravitz). Marie and Vincent then steal a doctor’s car and kidnap Vincent’s roommate Alex (Patel) after he catches them. The trio then head on a road trip together. Sheehan, star of the popular RTÉ drama series ‘Love/Hate’ can soon be soon in the highly anticipated Hollywood fantasy film ‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones’ alongside fellow Irish actors Aidan Turner and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The film is being produced by Troika Pictures and Coup d’Etat Films, with principal photography set to begin on July 1st in Los Angeles.
The Sopranos tops WGA’s list of the ‘101 Best Written TV Series of All Time’
Following up on their 2006 list of the 101 Greatest Screenplays, the Writers Guild of America have turned their attention to the medium of television. They recently announced its list of the 101 Best Written TV Series to celebrate the highest level of quality in the television medium. Members of the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) took part in an online survey to determine a ranked list of the greatest written television series. David Chase’s immensely popular crime drama series ‘The Sopranos’ took top honours in the poll, with ‘Seinfeld’, ‘The Twilight Zone’, ‘All in the Family’, and ‘M*A*S*H’ rounding off the top five. The placement of each particular show on the list is sure to cause plenty of discussion and debate amongst television enthusiasts and some may be surprised to see the hugely popular crime series ‘The Wire’ taking only the ninth spot on the list. With an eclectic mix of old and new, comedy and drama, and live-action and animation series, the list is certainly an interesting and thought-provoking read.

Kodak to supply 20th Century Fox with film
The art of filmmaking has changed drastically in the last decade or so, with filmmakers opting to use digital cameras to tell their stories, rather than using the more traditional method of film stock. 35mm film stock, once the most commonly used film gauge for motion pictures, may be considered obsolete in the near future, but as far as Kodak is concerned, it’s not dead yet. According to Variety, the N.Y.-based firm, much shrunken in bankruptcy, has struck a deal with Fox to supply with motion picture film for both feature films and television shows. Kodak has concluded deals within the last year to supply film stock to six major studios in America: Warner Bros., Disney, NBC-Universal, Sony, Paramount, and Fox. With the digital transition in theatres nearly complete, the demand for 35mm print stock is dwindling at a rapid rate. Yet many directors, such as the multi-award winning Paul Thomas Anderson, and cinematographers still prefer to capture on film. The last notable Hollywood film to make use of film stock was Anderson’s ‘The Master’ last year.
