Irish presenter Brian Dowling is to front Channel 5’s ‘Big Brother’ which will begin this August. Brian will be introducing the new housemates, interviewing the latest evictees and bringing all the latest news from the Big Brother House.
Commenting on the new position, Brian Dowling said “I am so excited about this opportunity to host one of the most talked about shows on TV. It is 10 years since I won Big Brother so what better way to celebrate and mark that anniversary than to be asked to host the new series. It’s on a new channel and a fresh start for the show that has kept the nation entertained for 11 years and I am so excited, to be a part of it!”
The Irish presenter is returning to the show where it all started for him, having won the Channel 4 series two back in 2001. This win kickstarted Brian’s career in reality television. Brian has since continued presenting shows and taking part in reality television with appearances on ‘Loose Women’, ‘The Mint’, ‘Come Dine With Me’ and ‘Celebrity Salon’. Brian was also voted Number One Housemate in the ‘Ultimate Big Brother’ series in 2010.
Creative Director for Big Brother at Endemol UK Gavin Henderson said ”Brian is a Big Brother superfan with huge personality and talent. Who better to bring the ultimate reality show back to our screens than the nation’s ultimate housemate.”
Big Brother on Channel 5 will be produced by Endemol UK’s production arm Initial. Channel 5’s Head of Factual Entertainment Steve Gowans, will oversee the new series for the channel which will be filmed at London’s Elstree Studios.
