Subotica Entertainment has received €50,000 under MEDIA’s i2i programme for their latest feature ‘The Daisy Chain’, directed by award-winning helmer Aisling Walsh.
The MEDIA i2i programme is designed to facilitate access to financing from banks and other financial institutions by subsidising part of the cost of the guarantees required by these institutions and/or part of the financing itself.
Subotica is one of several Irish production companies receiving MEDIA support in recent weeks, with six other Irish companies - Parallel Film, Telegael, Nemeton Teoranta, Léirithe Le Mac Dara Ó Curraidhín Teoranta, Magma and Campbell Ryan – receiving development funding totaling €629,000 in the latest round.
The next MEDIA Development deadline will be in November 2008.
In other news, Subotica is set to co-produce another feature directed by Walsh, ‘The Roaring Girl’. Written by Kate Gartside, the film is co-produced by London’s Cougar films and tells the story of Northern Irish civil rights campaigner Bernadette Devlin. Brit actress Sally Hawkins is attached to star.
